Rebates to help NSW households save power and money

Achieving power savings together

Rebates to help you save power at home

The NSW Home Saver Rebates Program and rebates for eligible energy and water efficient devices and equipment ended as scheduled on 30 June 2011.

At 30 September 2011, around 330,000 rebates had been provided to NSW households to help make their homes more power and water efficient – that's a saving of around 400,000 tonnes of carbon pollution, 4.6 billion litres of water and $50 million on water and energy bills every year**.

That's a saving of more than 7 billion black balloons!

Save power, save water, save money

One in eight NSW households have received rebates for a climate friendly hot water system, ceiling insulation, dual flush toilet, hot water circulator, rainwater tank or water efficient washing machine*.

Together, NSW households will save an estimated total of 46 billion litres of water, more than 4 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and $507 million on household water and energy bills over the life of each installation.

Although the rebates program has ended and rebates for the installation of rainwater tanks; solar, heat pump and gas hot water systems; dual flush toilet suites and hot water circulators are no longer available, the Fridge Buyback program is continuing.

The Fridge Buyback program will continue to offer up to $35 cashback, if you live in Sydney Metro, Wollongong, Shoalhaven, Central Coast or the Blue Mountains area, and recycle your old working second fridge.

Federal government rebates

Households who replace an existing electric storage hot water system with a solar or heat pump hot water system may be eligible for a rebate under the Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme. Find out if you are eligible by visiting the living greener website
