What happens during the home power assessment?

Step 1 - Arrival of energy expert

Energy expert arrives at your home to assess your household power use and help you save money and power

The energy expert arrives at your home at the agreed time and introduces her/himself.

They will be wearing a uniform and a photo identification badge.

Step 2 - Confirmation of eligibility

You will need to show the energy expert your relevant concession card to confirm your eligibility to participate in the program.

Step 3 - Your agreement

Energy assessor discussion with resident and agreement to proceed with energy audit

You will be asked to sign consent forms giving permission for the kit items to be installed and for your personal and power use data to be collected.

Step 4 - Your home power audit

Energy Expert assesses your power usage within your home

The energy expert walks around your home with you and points out what appliances/behaviours use the most power.

Using a small laptop they will collect information about your household's power use.

Step 5 - Installation of Power Savings Kit

Receive a power savings kit including energy efficient CFL light bulbs

The energy expert installs the Power Savings Kit items.

Step 6 - Discussing your power use

Energy expert walks you through the top power users within your home and how you can save power, cut carbon and reduce your power bills

The energy expert answers your questions on ways to save power and discusses your household's top five power saving tips.

Step 7 - Receive your personalised Power Savings Action Plan

Your personalised power savings action plan

Two weeks after the assessment you will get a personal Power Savings Action Plan in the mail.

It lists free and low cost ways to save power, money and cut carbon pollution.
