Saving power and reducing carbon pollution

More than one-third of all carbon pollution in New South Wales is created by electricity use.

The NSW government recognises that households, business, community and government all need to work together to reduce electricity use, so we can lower carbon pollution and reduce the impact of climate change.

It's a big challenge and we're already making great strides:

• the NSW Government's Energy Efficiency Strategy programs are supporting small, medium and large businesses as well as households to reduce climate change impact
• a range of ambitious but achievable carbon pollution reduction targets have been set for government and community facilities
• programs to support business and industry to reduce power have been developed
• there are plenty of examples of what organisations are already doing to save power.

Since reducing power use also means lower electricity bills, saving power makes sense whatever way you look at it.
